What is Zoom! Whitening?
Zoom whitening is a bleaching process that lightens the discoloration of surface of your teeth. Used in office, your dentist uses a Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp, which accelerates the whitening process. If possible, your dentist may recommend this over standard whitening.
During the whitening, your dentist will apply a cover over your gums and lips to protect them. Then, they will apply the Zoom hydrogen peroxide whitening gel, which also works with the chairside lamp to break up the discoloration on the surface of your teeth. Leaving the gel for 15 minutes on while the light is activated, the whitening does its work while you’re able to relax. In these small, 15 minute sessions, you only have to go through three of them for a total of 45 minutes. Afterwards, your dentist will apply a sensitivity gel to your teeth.
When your dentist is finished, they will send you home with a whitening tray that fits your mouth to do any touch-ups for your teeth, along with instructions on how to keep up with your whitening care.
To make sure your smile stays as white as possible, your dentist will advise you to avoid the usual: smoking, drinks like coffee and tea, and foods like berries, all items that will stain your teeth regardless of your Zoom! Whitening treatment.
